Book your Minor Surgery Assessment Online

Secure your pre-surgical assessment appointment online in just a few minutes. Please read this whole page carefully before booking.

During this appointment we will assess your condition, discuss possible treatment options, and determine whether a minor surgical procedure is appropriate.

Following your booking, our team will contact you and provide important background information and preparation instructions before your appointment.

1. Your Minor Surgery Assessment

Your appointment will allow us to:

  • assess the condition you would like treated
  • confirm whether surgery is appropriate
  • explain the available treatment options
  • discuss expected outcomes and aftercare
  • plan any procedure if suitable

Our aim is to provide a focused and efficient consultation so that patients can move forward with treatment as smoothly as possible.

2. The £60 Focussed Assessment Appointment

The £60 appointment is designed to be a focused surgical assessment.

After booking, we will send you general information electronically covering topics that apply to most minor surgical procedures, such as:

  • general surgical risks (for example infection or scarring)
  • consent and aftercare information
  • practical information about procedures performed in clinic
  • General risks of surgery
  • This information is the same for all patients and helps avoid spending consultation time on standard explanations.

Instead, the appointment can focus on your specific condition and your specific questions as well. For Xanthelasma surgery we even send you a video explaining the treatment options, which is important for you to watch.

For this type of appointment we expect patients to:

  • be comfortable using email and electronic information
  • read or watch the information provided before the appointment
  • attend with a reasonable understanding of the issue they wish to have assessed

If you prefer not to watch the information we send, or if you need assistance completing electronic forms, we recommend booking two or three appointment slots so that sufficient time is available during the consultation. The standard focussed assessment appointment is approximately 10 minutes with the surgeon and usually also 10 minutes with the nurse consultant right after the surgeon. At the end you will have received information about the surgery, the aftercare and usually walk way with an appointment unless we have to do other tests first.

3. Choosing the Correct Appointment

Appointments can be conducted face-to-face or by telephone.

In general, Dr Kittel prefers to see patients face-to-face, as this allows a proper examination and often leads to clearer advice.

Telephone consultations are usually suitable for patients who live more than one hour away or when an initial discussion is sufficient before arranging a visit.

One or more excellent pictures of the condition / lesions (not selfies) are necessary for a telephone appoinment. Please be aware Zoom calls are too grainy for a proper assessment.

Before booking, it may also be helpful to review our price list and treatment information so you can select the most appropriate consultation type.

4. Medical Conditions Treated Without Surgery

Occasionally a condition that appears to require surgery may instead be best treated with medical therapy.

If your consultation becomes a medical consultation, the fees are:

Initial medical consultation
£120

Follow-up consultations
£90

Follow-up appointments can often be conducted by telephone where appropriate.

5. Referral Letters

If a referral letter is required after your consultation:

One referral letter is included free of charge

Additional letters are charged at:

£30 per letter

6. Patients Under 18

We do not normally see patients under 18 years of age.

In exceptional cases we may see younger patients if they are “Gillick competent”, however these appointments cannot be booked online.

If the patient is under 18 years old, please telephone the clinic first so we can advise appropriately.

We do not treat children.
